Flutter into a world of discovery

Welcome to Ms. Cheniqua’s Curious Butterflies Preschool class! In this classroom, you can expect your child to be loved, have fun but most of all, learn. You will receive high quality but affordable childcare along with an inclusive, family oriented environment.

Communication

We value open and effective communication with our families and use the Procare Solutions System as our primary tool for staying connected. Procare makes it easy to communicate with parents, complete contactless check-in and check-out, receive invoices, and access important information all in one place. For matters that require more urgent attention, an email address will also be provided to ensure timely communication. Our goal is to make staying connected simple, convenient, and stress-free for our families

We are always happy to communicate with our families. If you send an email regarding an urgent matter, we will respond as quickly as possible. For questions or concerns that can be handled over the phone or through the Procare app, we encourage you to use those options first, as they are often the fastest way to reach us. If your question is not urgent and cannot be addressed through the app, please allow 24 to 48 hours for a response. When a conference is needed, meetings will be scheduled in the afternoon so that mornings can remain focused on welcoming children and starting the day in a positive and calm way.

Important Announcements

Friendship Card Day – February 14th

We are celebrating Friendship Card Day! Please send friendship cards for your child to share with their classmates. Drop them in your child’s bag before arriving at school. Candy should not be included.

Formal Conferences – March 16th–20th

Our formal conferences are coming up! This is a great time to meet with your child’s teacher and discuss their progress. More details will be shared soon, and you can sign up with your child’s teacher to reserve your conference time.

Home Based Activities

We encourage families to continue learning at home through fun and simple activities that support your child’s development.

Syllable Clapping Game (Language and Literacy)
Ask your child to say a word while you clap the syllables and repeat the word slowly. Sometimes clap the wrong number of times and invite your child to correct you. Then switch roles and let your child clap while you say the word.
This activity builds early reading skills by helping children hear the sounds in words and recognize how words are broken into parts.

Sock Squeeze Breathing (Self Regulation)
Give your child a rolled up sock for each hand. Have them squeeze the socks while breathing in slowly to the count of three. As they breathe out, relax their hands to the count of three. Repeat several times together.
This calming activity helps children manage their emotions, focus their attention, and learn healthy ways to relax their bodies.

Community Helpers Talk (Social Studies)
While visiting places in your community, talk about the people who help others such as teachers, firefighters, police officers, librarians, store clerks, doctors, and veterinarians. Ask your child questions about what each person does.
This activity helps children understand community roles, build vocabulary, and develop social awareness.
